English: A stone Iron Age 'pillar stone' or stele dating to the fourth to first centuries BC. The pillar stone is broadly square in cross-section with slightly rounded corners. It tapers slightly towards its rounded top. The bottom surface of the pillar stone is covered with rectangular grids of small holes.

The top half/third of the side faces are decorated with a continuous but irregular pattern of horizontal grooves, occasionally broken with a vertical groove or terminating altogether. Each face is decorated with a different set of carvings. Face 1 is decorated with a rectangular panel with four leaf motifs. Face 2 has an S-shaped motif. Face 3 has a rectangular spiral motif. Face 4 is too worn for its motif to be deciphered. These carvings are very similar to those on the Kermaria Stone, an Iron Age pillar stone from Finistere in Western Britanny, France, dating to the fourth century. The motif on Face I of this pillar stone is almost identical to Face III of the Kermaria Stone. There are also hints of the other patterns from the Kermaria Stone on other parts of this pillar stone. Overall, the object measures c.320mm in height, c.200 wide and c.200mm thick. It is made from gritstone, which if locally sourced is likely to be Millstone grit.
