ივი — ახალი ზელანდიის მაორის კულტურაში უდიდესი სოციალური ერთეული. სიტყვა ივის მნიშვნელობა შეესაბამება ტერმინი „ხალხები“ ან „ერები“.[1][2][3][4] ევროპილი მწერლები ივის და ხაპუს მოიხსენიებენ იერარქიული სტრუქტირუს ნაწილად და გამოიყენებოდა ტომის,[5][6][7][8][9] ან ტომობრივი გაერთიანების მნიშვნელობით, თუმცა ივის უფრო შეესაბამებ ხალხები, რადგან ის არ ატარებს სტრუქტურულ დატვირთვას.
სახელი
[რედაქტირება | წყაროს რედაქტირება]ივი ითარგმნება როგორც „ძვალი“. მაორები მოგზაურობიდან დაბრუნებას მოიხსენიებენ როგორც: „უკან ძვლებთან დაბრუნებას“ — რაც გულისხმობს წინაპრების დაკრძალვის ადგილზე დაბრუნებას. მაორი ავტორის კერი ხულმეს ყველაზე ცნობილი ნაწარმოების სახელია ძვლის ხალხი.
